About the School of Public Health

Drexel University

The Drexel University School of Public Health prepares graduates who can have a positive effect on the health of the public. Our curriculum combines knowledge of the core disciplines of public health with real-world, practical experience and is designed for those who want to make a difference in the health of communities and populations. A hallmark of the school is the significant experience our students receive working collaboratively with community groups, agencies, and populations to directly impact real-world public health problems.

Led by Dean Marla J. Gold, MD, the School of Public Health has achieved tremendous growth in its number of students, faculty and research grants. As one of only two fully-accredited schools of public health in Pennsylvania, and the only school of its kind in the Greater Philadelphia Region, the School of Public Health is committed to providing a quality education that keeps pace with today’s changing world.

The School of Public Health takes great pride in being one of the most diverse schools in the nation. The school is also grounded in the fundamental belief that health and human rights are inextricably entwined, and it boasts one of the most extensive student-practice experiences.

Public health problems have existed for centuries. Today we face ongoing challenges that include health care, influenza H1N1, emergency preparedness for minority communities, HIV/AIDS prevention, violence, hunger, infectious diseases, obesity and nutrition and much more.

The Drexel University School of Public Health prepares professionals who can develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to practically and effectively address these challenges.
