UPDATE: Afi Mansa Semenya, a second-year Health Management and Policy student, won the grand prize in the 2006 APHA Committee on Affiliates (CoA) Student Poster Contest. Her poster, "Improving the knowledge of minority populations through the use of beauty salon-based health education programs," highlighted work conducted by the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health, in collaboration with the Center for Health Equality in SPH. Her work was reviewed on-site by 3 judges. All posters were evaluated on each study’s innovativeness and replicability; and each presenter was judged on preparedness as a speaker and the contributions made to the projects by each student researcher. As the winner of the contest, Afi will be highlighted in “The Nation's Health”, the monthly APHA newsletter. Congratulations on this accomplishment!
