Dennis P. Andrulis, PhD, MPH, Director of the Center for Health Equality, published a chapter in Cities and the Health of the Public, a book of essays which analyzes the impact of city living on health, focusing primarily on conditions in the United States. Dr. Andrulis, who is a national expert on access to care for vulnerable populations, led the Social and Health Landscape of Urban and Suburban America project which produced a series of five reports using national sources of information — the US Census Bureau, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and others — to document the social and health improvements and challenges occurring in the nation’s 100 largest cities and their suburbs. His chapter is titled "Access to High-Quality Health Care in U.S. Cities: Balancing the community need and service system survival."
