OCR Officers visit Center for Health Equality

Leaders of the US Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Civil Rights (OCR) met with members of the Center for Health Equality (CHE) in the offices of the Drexel School of Public Health on the morning of April 19. The meeting was at the request of OCR Director Winston Wilkinson, who has expressed interest in the work of the CHE. Director Wilkinson was accompanied by two regional OCR officers, Regional Manager Paul Cushing and Investigator Elizabeth Benson. Attending for CHE were Director Dennis Andrulis, Asst. Professor Nicole Vaughn (Sr. Health Policy and Research Analyst) and Professor John Rich, Chair of the Dept. of Health Management and Policy.

Mr. Wilkinson reviewed the CHE's work of the past year, with particular focus on targeting health disparities on local and national levels, upcoming conferences including Quality Health Care for Culturally Diverse Populations, and evaluation of culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) in health care.
