2008 School Awards

The School of Public Health presented its 2008 School Awards (and Student Posters) for graduating students and their community preceptors on Thursday, June 5th.  Tradionally bestowed in the days before graduation, the awards recognize graduating students and faculty for their achievements and service to the School of Public Health and local community.

SERVICE TO THE SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH AWARD

Amber Trout

This award is presented to a student who has made a significant contribution to the School of Public Health by serving effectively on student government, and/or making a significant contribution to the improvement of a program component or the curriculum and/or reflecting positively on the School in his or her interaction with external entities.

EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNICATION AWARD

Lilliam Ambroggio

This award is presented to a student who has consistently demonstrated the ability to work with a variety of people and retained the capacity to remain constructive in all aspects of written and oral communication.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Tita Atte

This award is presented to a student who has exhibited exemplary volunteer service in the community during his or her time in the School.

EXEMPLARY CBMP AWARD

Ruth Morgan

This award is presented to a student who has exhibited excellence in the production of his or her Community-Based Masters Project.

GOLDEN APPLE AWARD

The Golden Apple Award is presented upon a vote of the graduating class to a faculty member, for excellence in teaching and advising/mentoring. Presented by a student of the Class of 2007.

Membership in the Hygeia Society is awarded to those students who have, by their performance in the combination of block curricula and community-based project, achieved the highest gradations in their class, reflecting each individual's commitment to excellence in the application and synthesis of public health principles as well as to the protection and improvement of population and community health.

Membership in the Hygeia Society is awarded to those alumni, faculty and friends who have actively engaged in public health work, significantly contributed to its development and/or most exemplify and support the core values and methods of the School and the public health profession.
