Recent School of Public Health Alum Receives Prestigious ASPH Fellowship

Adrienne Poon ’08, MPH, was recently selected for the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH)/Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Allan Rosenfield Global Health Fellowship.

As a fellow, Adrienne is moving to Beijing and working as a Global Program Management Fellow with the Global AIDS Program of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The fellowship, which was established in honor of Allan Rosenfield, the dean of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, provides international training opportunities for recent graduates of ASPH member accredited schools of public health. The award is given in recognition of Dean Rosenfield’s career dedication towards improving the health of the world’s most vulnerable populations.

As noted on the ASPH Web site, the purpose of the fellowship program is to enhance the training of graduates of the schools of public health with an interest in global health to experience and participate in aspects of global surveillance, monitoring and evaluation, epidemiology, strategic information, program management, and HIV Prevention and accelerate their careers as leaders in global public health.

Adrienne will also receive a stipend that is intended to cover all living expenses, and allowances that are based on particular travel and work requirements.
