SPH Hosts "Against the Odds" Exhibit

The Drexel University School of Public Health hosted the traveling exhibit "Against the Odds: Making a Difference in in Global Health," sponsored by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH), from May 20 - 22 in the lobby of the New College Building (245 N. 15th St., Philadelphia, PA). The exhibit included stories of those who take up the challenges to prevent disease and improve health care from multiple destinations around the world.

The exhibit is traveling to various schools of public health across the nation this summer, and features such stories as the "barefoot doctor program," which trained millions of young people to treat common ailments in rural China in the 1960's and 70's, as well as a program to address oral rehydration in Bangladesh. Further info describes how the Pholela Health Center in South Africa inspired the community health movement in the United States.
